Hair bonnet for sleeping – hair protection for sleep time
On 4 May 2022 by adminlbHair bonnets are the must-have hair accessory that makes waking up with perfect hair (without tangles and kinks) possible. The primary goal of a sleep cap is to protect the hair from the harsh treatment of cotton or polyester pillowcases during sleep by adding a barrier between them.
A bonnet can help maintain healthier, more luscious hair, protecting the style and beauty. Everyone who tried wearing a hair bonnet and discovered how good it is for the hair will never want to go without it.
Protective style for all hair types
Hair bonnets, also known as hair turbans, sleep caps, or bonnet caps. They are easy to use and beneficial for all hair types and textures. Wearing a hair bonnet to bed is an essential part of the hair beauty routine, and all hair absolutely loves it.
Sleep cap offers the best night hair protection. It helps preserve curls and braids, prevents frizz, and helps retain moisture, among many other benefits.
Better hydration and retention of hair products
Unlike silk pillowcases, cotton sheets provide the comfort of sleep but are surprisingly abrasive. They are also bad for hair hydration, as they are porours and soak up all hair moisture, natural oils, and even conditioning and beauty products applied before bed. All these substances are deposited onto the pillow surface and then transferred onto facial skin instead, causing clogged pores, acne breakouts, and skin irritation. It also results in dry hair.
Covering the hair with a good quality sleep cap at night can prevent that from happening. The hair can retain moisture and, as a result, it is shiny and better hydrated and nourished in the morning.
No more tangled hair with hair bonnets
Tangles, flyaways, and knots, which are created when tossing and turning in bed, cause hair breakage and split ends, especially with curly hair. The best way to avoid them is to wear an adjustable sleep bonnet.
Cotton pillowcases can act like sandpaper on delicate and curly hair. With a sleep bonnet, all hair can be safely tucked away, and the morning hair management is way less painful and stressful.
Less friction means less frizz
When strands of long hair are rubbing on polyester pillowcases, this often causes hair to frizz. The result is a frizz-ball for a morning hairdo, breakage and hair thinning, amongst many other pesky hair issues caused by the friction. Wearing a hair cap at night can prevent rubbing and keep the hair strong, and frizz-free.
Keeping long braids fresh during sleep
A hair bonnet works great for those who do not have time to style their hair in the morning and want to get up with hair ready to go. Wearing a bonnet to sleep will protect natural hair style from being disturbed during the night and keep them fresh.
It means no more bad hair days and more time for the beauty sleep. Even the long braids will look good when protected with best bonnets.
Satin bonnet or silk bonnet?
There are different types of bonnets available, and finding a favorite brand can take time. Most popular and best for natural hair protection are satin bonnets and silk bonnets. Both fabrics are similar in feel, appearance, and benefits, and they are better at reducing friction than other materials. They work even better if paired with silk pillowcases.
High quality satin bonnets, or charmeuse satin, are more cooling and feel more slippery. They look glossier than silk bonnets, which have a more dull look and feel softer. Silk bonnet, especially mulberry silk, is a natural fiber from silkworms and therefore is usually more expensive. A satin lined cap, which has replaced a traditional satin scarf, is a synthetic weave. Both provide good hair protection.
While there are other bonnets available, satin bonnet and silk bonnet are best for protecting hair, keeping the long hair safe from sleep friction, and helping with moisture retention. The most popular brands, i.e. grace eleyae or daye glow, all offer satin and silk bonnets. Polyester bonnets are not recommended.
Finding the right size bonnet
There is a wide selection of bonnet styles to choose from, and they come in different shapes and sizes. While looking for the perfect bonnet, it is important to get the right size to give your hair the proper royal treatment they deserve.
The night bonnet size mostly depends on the head sizes, length and structure of the hair. The large size works better with high volume hair, while the small size is a good fit for short hair.
The wrong size night hair cap will not be effective, and it may not stay on all night long. If a bonnet is too tight, it will squash the hair against a scalp and the hairstyle will lose its shape. If a cap is too large, it will fail to hold the hair in and it can slide off during the night.
Bonnet fitting makes a difference
There are different types of fittings that help make sure the bonnet stays on all night and does not slip off the head. The quality of the edge material can either inhibit hair growth or aid it.
Some bonnets have a thick elastic band around the rim. They stay on pretty firm but may be uncomfortable to sleep in. While it seems like a more protective style, the elastic band can also stress out hair endings and cause breakage, headaches, irritation, and even hair loss if it is too tight on the head.
The bonnets fitted with adjustable ribbons or drawstring offer a more flexible way of tightening the cap and tie for a snug fit. The material around the edges is the same as the hair wrap (satin or silk). It is soft and gentle for the hair.
Double lined satin bonnets lock more moisture
The fabric of a bonnet should not be too thin. The material is supposed to protect the hair at night and if it is not thick enough, there are too many spaces between the fabric and the moisture will still escape from the hair.
This is often the reason why bonnets with one layer of satin are less effective than best hair caps which are double lined bonnets. The second satin lining works as a barrier between the hair and a pillowcase and locks the moisture better.
How to put a head cup on
Putting on a night bonnet before going to bed is easy and does not require any special skills. It can be worn over dry or wet hair to preserve the benefits of a recent wash.
The application starts with flipping the head upside down. The bonnet, regardless of its style, should be held open with both hands and hooked at the nape of the neck above baby hair.
Once the sleep cap is applied it should be stretched downwards over the hair length. It should not cover the ears. In the case of longer hair, the ends should be pressed up towards the scalp to gather it all and tuck into the bonnet.
Protection any time, night or day
Best bonnets are not only great for hair protection at night but can also be worn during the day to maximize hair moisture and increase retention of hair style and beauty products. A night cap, if well fitted and adjustable, will stay firmly on and not slip even with frequent movement. It will work great while doing daily chores at home or working in the garden.
With a variety of available styles and colors, a good quality, brand silk or satin night bonnet can also become a stylish accessory when there is no time to style the hair.
